Michelle Pfeiffer has recieved a star on the "Hollywood Walk Of Fame" for her overall body of mostly great work. I'm not one for awards and accolades for those who already have everything, but it's nice to see her get recognition for work.
But if you've ever been to Hollywood Blvd, you know that it's a disgusting street. I've lived in Los Angeles for most of my life and I do everything I can to stay away from Hollywood, particularly Hollywood Blvd.
Seeing her standing there, smiling and getting applause, I couldn't help but see the "Oh God" behind her smile. Is this Hollywood tradition even needed anymore. There is no rhyme or reason to it in this day and age. Someone as talented as Michelle Pfeiffer, an actress with a list of films a mile long. Films that are permantely burned into the satisfied conscience of movie lovers, just got a star on Hollywood along with the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Cary Grant and Britney Spears. That's right, Spears got a star in 2003, a cool four years before Pfeiffer.
But if you view Hollywood Blvd, the way I do, then you could conclude that Spears is the one really deserving of her name laying among the filth and rows of drug addicted teenagers begging for money.
Me thinks this whole "Walk Of Fame" thing is done. It died a long time ago, but when they gave a star to Britney Spears before they gave one to Pfieffer and a host of other long time Hollywood and musical greats, they officially turned it into the "Walk Of Shame" and no celebrity after her will ever give a damn again.
Congrats on your star Michelle!
