Last night in a Paris hospital, CHARLOTTE GAINSBOURG underwent emergency brain surgery. The actress was injured in a water skiing accident while vacationing in the US several months ago, where after she began complaining of non-stop headaches and nausea and sought medical attention. Earlier this week during the Venice Film Festival, Charlotte elected to have the surgery in Paris after doctors concluded she had swelling in the brain. Charlotte’s agent, Dominique Segall said, “The operation went very well. She is coming out of the hospital tomorrow.”
For those of you who have no idea who she is, you non-foreign film watching people, Charlotte is mainly a French actress and singer and does most her work in Europe. She has however ventured into the American film market in such films as “21 GRAMS”, “THE SCIENCE OF SLEEP” and the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic “I’M NOT THERE”. She was born in London, United Kingdom in 1971 and raised in Paris, France. She is the daughter of the famous English actress JANE BIRKIN and the legendary French poet and singer SERGE GAINSBOURG. Apparently the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Charlotte is married to the French actor and director Yvan Attal. They have two children, Ben and Alice.
Charlotte is truly a beautiful and gifted artist and amazing to watch on screen. I recommend you watch some of her films, particularly “Buche, La” and “Lemming”.
We wish her all our blessings for a healthy and speedy recovery.
