Open Letter To Sprint.
Dear Sprint, I am a relatively new customer to the Sprint network. I came over from Verizon and I must say that I am extremely happy with the Sprint service. Coverage has been excellent, data speeds are fantastic and your pricing particularly in the unlimited data arena is unbeatable. But i have one complaint.
I am aware that you are trying to answer the iPhone with variuos models of your own. TV shows, mp3's and traffic alerts are nice features, but they don't stand out above any other phone or wireless carrier. There is one aspect of the iPhone that stands out beyond what other Phones and carriers offer in a basic package. Visual Voicemail.
But this doesn't have to be. While I was on Verizon I was able to use a company called Callwave. Callwave allowed me to see my voicemail messages in an email that was delivered to my phone. If I didn't want to hear it, I left it alone until later. If I did, I opened the email and it played on my Palm, or on my home computers. I cannot use this service any longer because Sprint is the only carrier that does not allow 3rd party voicemail applications such as:
Callwave
Simulscribe
GotVoice and many others.
If you are truly looking to do battle with the iPhone, then allow your customers the abilty to do what all of the other carriers allow their customers to do. Use their voicemail the way they want, and visualize their voicemail like they will be able to do natively on the iPhone.
Thank you for listening.
