When will people learn it doesn’t pay to abuse the workers who make you money! Daisy Fuentes, TV host, model and actress, gets busted for using a sweatshop in Guatemala to produce her clothing line that’s exclusively sold at Kohl's department stores. According to Charles Kernaghan, executive director of the NYC-based National Labor Committee, conditions at the apparel factory, Fribo, S.A., in Santiago Sacatepequez are abusive and illegal under Guatemalan law.
It seems that for every Daisy Fuentes blouse that sells for $22-38 in the United States, each worker is paid twenty-five cents for each one. If that’s not bad enough, workers are forced to work sixty-hour weeks in which they believe they don’t often get compensation for overtime. Not only that, the workers are cheated of health care, maternity and pension benefits. Why? Because the Guatemalan Institute for Social Services never receives the fees deducted from the workers wages for those benefits because the factory owner of Fribo never sends them in.
It seems that Fuentes was unaware of the situation and conditions at the factory and was contacted by The National Labor Committee where by offering assistance in resolving problems there. How does one not know the involvement of their company?
Apparently sweatshops and abusive labor have become a trend used by celebrity clothing lines such as Kathie Lee Gifford, P. Diddy, the Olsen Twins, Major League Baseball and the National Basketball Association in which they have been linked too.

My wife received maternity intimate apparel from her work during the maternity.Isn't that ridiculous? And you speak about benefits..
