Move Over Yugo, The Tata Is Coming! Worlds Cheapest Car!
India is soon to release the Tata, the worlds cheapest car going for $2,500. The Yugo, the thing and the Pacer will all soon have another classmate. Sure we'll probably never see one on the lot in America, but I bet Jay Leno buys one just for the heck of it.
--The Indian company told the Financial Times this week that the vehicle would sell for around $2,500, versus about $4,000 for the current low-price champ, Suzuki's Maruti 800. See full story at FT.com.
India's gross domestic product per capita is about $3,700, so cheaper vehicles are certainly one key to expanding the market. (The vehicle won't meet European safety norms, according to the report.)
But whether putting tens of thousands more vehicles on Indian roads is a good idea remains to be seen--

It was one of the most cheapest car in the world... So heap that I had five of Yugo Coral 1.1... Even the parts are cheap though it is really hard to find, such as the Yugo oxygen sensor, muffler, vent visor, etc... But i love it, it saves me a lot of money...
