As you know I keep an eye on the Union hubbub mustering up. I knew the Union was in for a fight but I was not aware that not only do they have network and studio re-negotiations but also they need to make good on their promises to AFTRA before times up. Really, with out plausible leaders the Union's going to end up in one good strike. In 2000 they were unified. The problem is now who do they strike against. Themselves? For what? For not holding the head of the unions accountable, who else do they get to wave their fists at? The Union joined forces years ago to protect and represent the working folk within this creative field and now instead of accomplishing basics not even the inter union promises are kept. I ask again the question I asked in an earlier blog about leadership going into the next 3 years is the current leadership cutting it? Set all preconceptions and alliances aside and take a step back, ask yourselves this... Am I voting the person into power to fight for my creative survival in tomorrows world or just the good old standby? Promises, promises... how can you expect anyone who doesn't keep promises to their own, keep them in the name of you? That is your voted union representative .Once again at this time I'm am not in the union nor am I a bitter reject. I'm just an outsider weighing my own options of my creative survival and at this time gladly I option out.
