Palm needs to fear the Advantage
I know my esteemed colleagues are touting the recently updated release of the Samsung Q1 Ultra's et al, but I must digress from joining the crowd as suggesting these may be anything close to Foleo killers (as if the Foleo needed anymore help to be dead in the water).I've been tracking several long time and respected users of mobile devices and one by one they are being won over by the HTC Advantage.
Unexpected coffee breaks are the best, and this one is super nice due to the HTC Advantage. I am really enjoying this WM device. It's got everything, wireless, WiFi, GPS, gobs of storage space due to the 8 GB MicroDrive, and it's easily the fastest Windows Mobile device I have ever used. This responsiveness is the single biggest factor contributing to my enjoyment of the device.
Rob Bushway at Gottabemobile is currently testing the device after hearing James practically gushing over the device here.
And Matthew Miller from the Mobile Gadgeteer has the most comprehensive review of the device I've yet to find here.
The HTC Advantage is the most powerful Windows Mobile Professional (aka Pocket PC Phone Edition) device on the market and has features that actually rival that of UMPC devices.
LisaG at MobileTechReview is evaluating the model now.
First thought: this thing is way cooler than we first thought. I'd played with the Advantage 7500 before it was released and it was neat and useful but the final version, and especially the Advantage X7501 with Windows Mobile 6 rocks. I've been working on a review of the Samsung Q1 Ultra UMPC, also a cool device, but hobbled by a woefully inadequate processor. The HTC by comparison is much more usable thanks to Windows Mobile's instant on technology, the 7501's better keyboard and above all, faster performance.
There are several other reviews starting to surface via a Google search but even at roughly $900, the Advantage seems to be far ahead on connectivity, usefulness, installed applications and overall positive reactions. The fact it already has phone connectivity would put this as the real competition to the Foleo in my opinion.
Mobile Review also has a great review with tons of photos for you to view here.
Palm Foleo, you have met your enemy and it has the Advantage.
