Lay Offs? Are Things Getting Tough For RealNetworks?

Realplayer I can't find a single person who is still using Real Player on their Macs, and the few people that I asked who use Windows, just looked at me with a very confused face, so I went with no. But RealNetworks is hanging there, buying up companies and updating their players that still don't play nice with most other formats that are more widely used.

However, maybe a peek into some strain surfaced today when RealNetworks announced a layoff of 100 employees. Unless you're one of that 100, this number doesn't sound so large when you're talking about companies, but even the smallest amount of bulk layoffs usually means more are coming. RealNetworks still has 1,700 employees and says that there are no more layoffs scheduled.
