Free iPhone WiFi At Starbucks And Barnes and Noble?

Attiphone

How long will this last?  It seems that there are reports of free WiFi for those with a iPhone in their left hand, and a double tall latte in the right.   As you can see from the pic, at&t has a "number" input screen that will allow you to connect to a Starbucks or Barnes and Noble hotspot for free.

I doubt that it will be free for too much longer, and if so, Starbucks is going to look awefully weird in the next coming weeks.  There will be tons of iPhone users glued to their screens and wired at the same time.

A bad combination.

Is Native IM Coming To The iPhone?

Patent0804211

Yes, according to this patent Appleinsider found.  It seems the the folks at Apple filed for this one last August and it was granted in March.  What ever the case, it's another step in the right direction towards making the iPhone a better all around device.

Sure there will be rows and rows of third party IM solutions, but this one comes straight from the orchard, so if anything goes wrong, you only have Apple to blame.

AOL MOBILE SEARCH with GOOGLE now Available For The iPhone!

11

What would life be without AOL on your iPhone?  I don't know, but it has been a question to puzzle the scholars for centuries, days,  a few minutes.

Luckily I caught this over at PalmAddicts.  "Mobile Search has a traditional Web search engine, but also has features specially tailored to search the content of various AOL properties, including Moviefone, MapQuest, AOL CityGuide and others. So, for instance, searching for hotels in a specific location will bring back a list of entries from CityGuide with inline phone numbers. Searching for a movie will bring back results from an iPhone-optimized version of Moviefone, complete with inline times."

Now we no longer have to wonder and we can be one up on the scholars.

O2 Puts The iPhone On The Cheap

Splashherographicsweet16

Folks in the UK are really getting a break on iPhone purchases lately.  But that assumes Brits are purchasing iPhones and the Jury is still out on that one.  But fresh off the heels of a T-Mobile price drop, O2 chimes in with a £100 cut off the going British iPhone rate.

Take it how you want it, either they are trying to stick folks with a slower iPhone after the release of a newer 3G model, or they just want somebody to buy one.

iPhone - Fimrware 1.2.0, Save Photos From Safari With Your Finger

Img_0001  Little by little, bit by bit, version number by version number that iPhone of yours gets more and more useful.

Apples 1.2.0 Firmware update allows you to now "Save Photos" from Safari.  By simply pressing the image for a few seconds, users can now select "Save Photo" and put the image into the photo directory.

Yes, I know.  Everyone with any other smartphone is going "So" as they chuckle.  But hey, the iPhone wasn't offering that seemingly basic little feature until now, and now it does so there you have it.

iPhone Contacts Search, Leaked Photos

Iphoneent07  Leaks here, leaks there, leaks will come from everywhere as the big iPhone 2.0 release gets closer.  Thanks to a tipster who tipped off Engadget, we get an early look at a few albeit small updates in the new version.

It looks as though the update will include a little Search option at the top of the contacts screen, along with a "meetings invitation" option  which displays request count like the SMS function.
