RIP NBA

Tomorrow at 11am Eastern NBA Commissioner David Stern will say why the NBA is not dead. As you may of heard, 13-year veteran referee Tim Donaghy has been caught fixing games for the mob...the cardinal sin of pro sports. What's even worse is that the NBA knew about 18 months ago. Stern hired a private investigator to follow Donaghy. It begs the question...why didn't Stern make a move before another seaon and NBA championship went by? What do you expect from a league run by a lawyer? A lawyer who happens to be the luckiest SOB in pro sports history. His first year as NBA Commissioner was the 84-85 season when Micahel Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon, John Stockton AND Charles Barkley entered the league. Hell, I was 13 at the time and could have done just as good a job with that windfall. Stern went on to create the worst rule in NBA history when he made it mandatory for a one game suspension for any player leaving the bench during a fracas. Well, we all remember how that played a part in the Suns series loss to Stern's favorite team the Spurs this year. Speaking of bad calls, Donaghy was 1st amongst referees calling technicals this year. That sure helps when you're trying to cover the point spread. AND he graded out as one of the best refs under the league's own supervision. Nice league Stern! That 20 year run of the lottery you instituted has also not kept teams from tanking it down the stretch. All this and you leave us with watching Kobe Bryant as your big star. Gee, can I bring my kids to a game that promotes an adulterer (alleged rapist) and spend $400 doing it? Nice league Stern! Well, when the head's sick the whole body sick. I'm sure attorney Stern will say something clever with that smug smile of his tomorrow like, "the demise of this great league has been greatly exaggerated." Let me say something exaggerated...David Stern is a great commish!
