John Tomko alerted me to an article on the Ten Best Beatle Covers of All Time.m running in conjunction with the opening of the film Across the Universe. Great fodder for argument, as most of these lists are intended to be. The Libertine cover of "Eight Days a Week" surely belongs, as does the Breeder's "Happiness Is a Warm Gun". But Echo and the Bunnymen's take on "Ticket To Ride does neither the band nor the songs and favors. And how could you list Rufus Wainwrights "Across the Universe" at the expense of Fiona Apple's quintessential cover of the song. And where is Teenage Fanclub's update of "Tell Me What You See", Al Green's soul romp through "I Wanna Hold Your Hand", or Cheap Trick's "Magical Mystery Tour". Read the list and tell us what you think.
