The White Stripes, the rock duo out of Detroit consisting of guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Jack White and his ex-wife drummer Meg, have canceled their remaining for 2007 and indefinitely beyond that. Reports near the band say Meg is battling crippling anxiety that causes her to fear flying, and by some reports, performing. So if you caught them already this year consider yourself very lucky indeed. The duo is famous for their hyper-kinetic, dynamic rock shows. White, a lover and student of rock music, brings an understanding and affinity for all its forms to his tunes. Meg, a limited drummer, has turned out to be the perfect foil his White Stripe material. White also recently formed the Raconteurs along with fellow Detroit singer/songwriter Brendan Benson. There was speculation after the success of the Raconteurs disk that White may terminate the Stripes to continue in the full band environment that he was thriving in. The September dates had already been canceled, and the further cancellations will likely fuel considerable gossip about the future of the band. One of the best live shows around, the loss of the White Stripes would be great. Lets hope Meg gets back on the pony real soon.
