Danny Kaye was one of the most brilliant physical comedians of his or any time. His incredibly languid and mallable stretch body was perfect for the physical contortions he put it through for the sake of a laugh. His training as a dancer was no small help. But his voice and adroitness with language and accents were equally key to his genius. He could imitate any accent. and twist any phrase into as many contortions as his body. His training as a singer helped here. One of his best films was The Court Jester, and one of his greatest routines is from that film and often refered to as the poison in the pellet routine, for immediately obvious reason.
