An NPD survey of more than 13,000 consumers found that the Treo and T-Mobiles Sidekick have suffered the most from the release of the iPhone. Take the info the way you want, it is a survey after all, and I have never been to big on surveys.
But the findings indicate that buyers of the iPhone were ten times more likely to be Treo owners, and three times more likely to be T-Mobile sidekick owners. NPG Group's findings and report was deigned to gauge the iPhones impact. The findings find that RIM stood strong and Blackberry owners didn't drop their phones to get the coveted Apple device. The report also covers carriers:
---When it comes to carrier switching, Alltel and T-Mobile took the biggest hit from Apple and AT&T’s iPhone marketing juggernaut. Consumers who switched carriers to buy an iPhone were three times more likely to switch from Alltel or T-Mobile than from other carriers. Sprint and Verizon also lost customers to AT&T and the iPhone, but not nearly to the same degree, due to their existing over-the-air (OTA) music offerings, rich video and data services and 3G networks already in place.---
The finding also found that Motorola and the Motorola Q took a hit.
