You know, this doesn't even fit into one of the Morning Paper categories but I feel the need to come out of the closet on this one; I am a Star Trek fan.
Okay, not that dorky first one with Capt. Kirk (and I did like the movies a whole lot better than the series), although Mr. Spock does tell me to "Live long and prosper" when I power down my Tablet PC or desktop, but I was an avid fan of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek Voyager. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was kind of hit and miss with me and I never liked the Star Trek "prequel".
At any rate, now that I have thoroughly pissed off the Star Trek fan elite with my snubbing of the original Star Trek series, let me tell you why I have come out of the closest about my Star Trek fandom.
There is going to be a 40 city tour of Star Trek stuff that kicks off right in my back yard of Southern California starting January 18th! My geek brain is already spinning with A. Can I snag a ticket? and B. If I snag a ticket, can I get the time off from work?
Here's the details for all the other Trekkies out there.
First up from Geek.com:
“Star Trek” will soon boldly go across the United States and Canada featuring the largest “Star Trek” interactive exhibit of its kind. The tour so aptly named, “Star Trek” The Tour, is set to kick off a 40 city voyage starting at the Queen Mary Dome in Long Beach, California, on January 18 and run through February 17.
Not only will the tour feature the world’s largest collection of authentic Star Trek ships, sets, costumes, and props from all 5 television series and 10 motion pictures.
Yeah, I know, you want more. Okay, here's the link to the official site to see it all in glorius color, what's included, and, the most important question, when will it be coming to your neck of the woods. At 40 cities long, chances are it will be coming close to your local abode to get your Trek on.
From the official web site, StarTrek.com:
STAR TREK THE TOUR is dedicated to the over forty years of imagination, artistry and meticulous craftsmanship that together have made the Star Trek legacy the most enduring television franchise in history. This is the largest collection of artifacts, sets and information ever put on public display. A truly impressive array of exhibits, featuring sets, costumes, priceless museum pieces and props from all five Star Trek television series and ten Star Trek feature films. Together these components offer Star Trek fans and novices alike, an unprecedented encounter with the phenomenon that is Star Trek.
There is really too much to list here. The main site opens in the Rotunda with an 18-foot model of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-A, A Tribute to Gene Roddenberry, a full-size replica of the bridge where you can take pictures that will digitally superimpose Spock, McCoy, et al onto the photo, and more.
Of course you know, for something like this, it aint gonna be cheap. $35 an adult head on the weekend, $17.50 if you want to share your inner Trek with your offspring. Prices are slightly cheaper if you can swing a weekday trip. And, for the true fan, there are several "VIP" packages that start at $100 for the Commander package and soar to $1,500 for the "Q" Pass.
If you are still interested, here's the tentative itinerary:
STAR TREK THE TOUR will be visiting the following cities:*

Hit the read link for more information since I don't have the room to go into more details. Suffice is to say, the tour looks to be hitting all areas no matter what level or where you came in to the Star Trek universe.
