According to a Forrester Research report from a survey of 5,000 adults, 12% of them say that they are willing to pay a premium for products that are Green and come from a known environmentally conscience company.
41% of those surveyed are American adults strongly committed to environmentally friendly products. Apparently Apple leads the Green lean with Compaq right behind. But let's not look at this as a race, this is our planet we're talking about.
But, the problem with this survey and its findings is the nature of capitalism. We shouldn't be entertaining the idea of paying more for products that are more kind to us and our planet. Take a MacBook Pro for example. Already one of the most expensive laptops you can buy off the shelf. But if we start telling Apple (or any other company) that we're totally willing to pay more because they made a laptop that is Bio-degradable after its life span, then the price of that MacBook Pro is going to go through the roof. Why? Because they know we'll pay it all in the name of Green.
Protecting our environment is a duty, not a fad or a band wagon to jump on.
Absolutely right!
We've gotten so skewed in the brain that some of us find it acceptable to pay more to a company for doing what they should be doing anyway.
Going green will become yet another marketing ploy while corporations charge us a premium and laugh all the way to the bank.
