Lo these many months I have searched far and wide to find that person rockin out with their Zune out. I thought I had done it a few times only to discover that the player in question was actually a ZEN, not to be confused with a Zune, but easily done. But as the old adage goes, "if you stop looking for it, you'll find it", or something like that. It's sort of like the "fool me once, I won't get fooled again thing."
Anyway, I was grabbing lunch at a local eatery when at a table in front of me, a guy sits down, pulls out his 6 year old Dell laptop and waits patently for it to boot up. While waiting he gets on his flip phone and proceeds to talk loudly about his script that he is currently working on. How well it's coming and how many people like it.
As I searched my table for something to it him with without causing permanent damage, he hangs up and pulls out a...a...Yep you guessed it! A Zune! I nearly jumped out of my seat at the site. It was like living in Nebraska a seeing a Beach Cruiser. I don't want one, but mom look! A beach cruiser!
Now after so many months of fun at the expense of the Zune, I can finally say I have really seen one in the wild. Now mind you, while at CES, while walking past the Microsoft booth, the Zune display was pointed out to me, but I refused to look. I wanted to see my first real life Zune in the hands of a brave consumer on the street unabashed by the purchase.
That's one less task on my bucket list.
Ha! About time! I told you they exist!
Now, what that yahoo was doing with an ancient Dell and a dumb flip phone makes me think he isn't as "cool" as he tries to be with his Zune.

Gee, all you had to do was ask... I would have shown you mine! :P (or my parents' Zunes)

HA! Yeah but, I wanted to see one by accident.

Yeah it may seem that I added that in for dramatic effect (which I did) but it is the truth. I new it was an old Dell because I have the same one, I bought it 6 years ago. It didn't work then and it doesn't work now. But hey, I saw a Zune!

Well, at least with the exception of the Zune guy, I'm thinking most other Zune owners are actually cooler that that guy sounded.
Right GoodThings2Life?
Valleywag has been having a similar ongoing debate about the Amazon Kindle and they finally got a picture of someone reading a Kindle on a NYC subway. Which, having grown up on the East Coast and visited NYC on a number of occasions, I'm wondering what female would use a Kindle while walking up the steps onto the street?
Just not gonna happen.
